Access cover

A customer approached me wanting to replace the unsightly manhole cover right in the centre of his lawn. I made this more discreet and heavy lid out of mahogany. It it double layered with upper and lower planks at ninety degrees to each other for strength and stability. To avoid grandchildren lifting it, I made a hidden hook type arrangement for safe and authorised removal.

Presentation boxes

These were ordered by a gentleman who needed fitting boxes in which to house antique fishing priests. Made using finger joints from ash and oak with HMS Victory oak securing pegs and lined with leather.

Staircase and bannisters

Made to replace old softwood and carpeted treads. Made in oak and and reinforced with angle iron for a very solid feel. I also made and fitted all the newels and bannisters and rails, the spindles were purchased elsewhere as I am not a wood turner. I also made the door thresholds in oak and fitted all the doors and oak floor at the foot of the stairs.

18ft Strip plank sea kayak

This was one of the builds I was involved with whilst at the boat building academy. Made from edged strips of softwood  that are glued together and shaped around a skeleton of moulds. The hull is then shaped and sanded to make 'fair' before being sheathed in glass fibre. The owner took the boat on to finish after the course had ended.

Canoe themed low table

Made from oak with an inlay of rupalo, this is still a work in progress. Timbers will be steam bent and attached along the length so as to form a hull shape.
